Seirinkan Neapolitan Pizza

World class Neapolitan Pizza in Nakameguro

Seirinkan is a world class Neapolitan style pizza restaurant in Nakameguro. Located next to Nakameguro Station, Seirinkan's top notch pizzas and unique ambiance make this one of the coolest places in the world to have pizza. Featured on American TV shows including David Chang's "Ugly Delicious," this restaurant and its chef Susumu Kakinuma is well known as one of the first Neapolitan style pizza restaurants in Tokyo. The chef learned about Neapolitan pizza from his travels in Italy and perfected his art with his own style of Neapolitan pizza dubbed Kakinuma style. He is also known for training many of the chefs who lead other Neapolitan pizza restaurants in the city.

The interior decor is a mixture of steampunk metal and Beatles paraphernalia with the soundtrack of the restaurant playing solely Beatles music. The chef is notably a Beatles fan. On the first floor, Kakinuma works the pizza oven and counter, whereas the top 2 floors are for diners. There are only two pizzas on the menu, a Margherita and Marinara, but they should both be ordered to contrast the flavors, and both are amazingly delicious. The quality of the fresh ingredients shine through, and the salt in the crust really adds to the flavor. The pizzas are on the smaller side, as a single person can finish one pizza.

Antipasto appetizers include mussels, octopus, broccoli, prosciutto and a number of salads. There are a variety of pastas on the menu as well, including seafood pasta, a Neapolitan, puttanesca, pomodoro and arabbiata. Dessert consists of a tiramisu or affogato. The wait staff are attentive and welcoming and Kakinuma san is friendly. The restaurant is open daily for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. for dinner on weekdays. It is open on weekends from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5-9 p.m. for dinner. Reservations are available but by phone only. Seirinkan is near Nakameguro Station and within minutes by foot.
