NAKED Sakura Festival 2024

Enjoy natural and man-made spring beauty at Nijo Castle

Venue: Nijo Castle When: Mar 8th - Apr 7th 2024

Japan's sakura season is one of the most anticipated times of year, with the delicate blossoms drawing crowds of locals and international visitors alike. If you're looking for a unique way to enjoy them, check out the NAKED Sakura Festival at Kyoto's World Heritage listed Nijo Castle.

The castle is one of Kyoto's top sakura viewing spots, with around 300 trees dotting the grounds. The natural beauty is enhanced at this event by after-dark illuminations, projection mapping displays on the castle's Karamon Gate, and even cherry blossom inspired sweets and drinks available to purchase.

Please note that this is a ticketed event, with regular weekday admission (Monday to Thursday) priced at 2000 JPY for adults (counted as anyone junior high aged and above), and 1200 JPY for elementary aged students. This increases on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with adult admission set at 2400 JPY and elementary aged student admission at 1600 JPY.

There are also two "peak days" (Saturday March 23th and Saturday March 30th) which are 2800 JPY for adults and 2000 JPY for elementary aged students.

Getting there

Nijo Castle is located a short walk from Nijojo-mae Station, which is served by the Tozai Subway Line.

Paid on-site parking is available (details can be found here), but utilizing public transport where possible is advised.
